Lincoln County Releases Results of 2018 Tobacco Compliance Checks

Tobacco-Free Coalition (NWTFC) once again conducted Wisconsin Wins tobacco compliance checks this year. Any store that has a tobacco license is subject to an annual compliance check.  A total of  31 random checks were completed in Lincoln County.  This year, 5 stores sold tobacco to a minor.  That makes our county’s illegal sales rate 16%.We want to sincerely thank the following retailers in our county who were checked this year and did not sell tobacco to a minor:

We encourage all retailers selling tobacco products to ID anyone who looks to be under the age of 40. If any retailer would like more information on how to properly train employees to read IDs please visit: www.witobaccocheck.org. This site offers a free, easy, online training program.  Oneida County Health Department (OCHD) is also available to conduct free trainings for retailers if desired.

By working with local stores to eliminate tobacco sales to minors we can help improve the health of our youth and brighten our community’s future! If you are interested in getting involved or for additional information on the WI Wins program, please contact Judy Sargent, NWTFC Member at jsargent@co.lincoln.wi.us or 715-539-1377.
