Free gun locks available

Lincoln County Health Department with support from the Healthy Minds for Lincoln County Coalition are working with local organizations and businesses to distribute gun locks. This initiative aims to increase awareness about safe storage of firearms in effort to prevent suicide and promote child safety.

WI Quit Line

Lincoln County, Wisconsin - The Wisconsin Tobacco Quit Line is offering more free medications for all Wisconsinites who want to rethink their tobacco use. The Quit Line has long sent a free two-week starter kit of nicotine patches, lozenges, or gum for eligible tobacco users. For a limited amount of time, the Quit Line will offer eight weeks of free medication.

Healthy Minds for Lincoln County is hosting two Adult Mental Health First Aid trainings at no cost to participants. Trainings will be held in both Merrill and Tomahawk. Thank you to UW-Madison Division of Extension and Aspirus Health for sponsoring these trainings.

Lincoln County Health Department would like to remind community members of the risk of Blastomycosis (or “Blasto”). Although the risk of getting this fungal infection is low, every year there are individuals in Lincoln County who get Blastomycosis. Lincoln County is in the top 5 counties for the highest incidence rate of Blastomycosis in Wisconsin. Furthermore, from 2013-2022, 40 individuals in Lincoln County tested positive for Blastomycosis, 21 of which ended up hospitalized.
